THE YEAR 1986, in July, A BIG ACCIDENT HAPPENED AT HOT ROLLING MILL 2. Due to maintenance improvements, the summer 1986 the HSM2 was marching without stopping and producing 10,000 metric tons per shift, working ratio was 100%. Because the ouside enviroment temperature of about 110 ºF and the full power non stop production, there was overheating of the power cables in correspondence with a pull box in the underground cable tunnels. Overheating took fire to a power cable in a weak coupling point, and the cigarette effect led to the dimming panel.destruction. The plant stopped 2 months, the repair cost was about 120 millions EU of today.
Position from 1986 to 1987 : reorganization of the 60" HRC mill.
Description: I had a part in the activities to eliminate the managers of maintenance and reunite the structure of maintenance and operation - always without consequences for plants, but not always for the involved people .
