No fear! the Mercy of Jesus
  is INFINITE

Those of us who, like the disciples then, did not understand who Our Lord really is, would probably tremble at the knees at the prospect of the commitment they think is necessary to follow all the teachings of the Master.
Or someone else - although animated with good intentions - would say that Jesus is asking too much; you can't really be friends with him and really love him:

«I am not a hero» - would say - «nor am I a saint, I have the load of problems and worries of all kinds ... every day I struggle and struggle between hindrances and the most diverse duties. How can I add more?»

WRONG! Being friends of Jesus and loving him is easy, it will take us a short time, but after a while it will also help us in ordinary life, that of every day.
It is enough to attend him. What we dedicate will be worth it. Let's make an appointment with Him and talk to Him in silence for a few minutes telling about ours, let's read a passage from the Gospel every day, let's put ourselves in spirit next to Him and try to understand what He wants to tell us.
If we find a passage that is more difficult to understand and apparently contradictory with other passages of the Holy Bible, let us not be ashamed to ask some prepared person to give us his opinion and explain it to us.
What Jesus teaches us is reported by the beloved disciples, and must therefore be read in the historical moment and in the environment of that time, updated to the people and circumstances of today. So let us study, when it's possible, for us to understand Him better.

Maybe we won't become altar saints - as far as I'm concerned, I think I know myself, and I'm sure I don't - but maybe gradually it becomes natural to listen more to others and less to ourselves, and also to behave as Christians in the most diverse situations of real life.
Without even noticing WE WILL LIVE IN HARMONY with what Jesus teaches in the Sermon on the Mountain.
And even those who, as I am, are NOT consecrated persons will be able to carry themselves always - or almost always - as a lay faithfuls, with justice and without having to renounce the prerogatives of their family and also to their own.
We are not free from mistakes and we can make mistakes. However, it is enough to examine one's conscience at the end of each day and understand if, where, and how we have been wrong.

Above all, one thing IS VERY important: ALTHOUGH WITHOUT OBSTENTATION AND IN A NATURAL WAY, ON THE OPPORTUNITY, WE HAVE NEVER TO BE ASHAMED (º) TO MAKE IT SEE THAT WE ARE FRIENDS OF JESUS, THAT WE ARE CHRISTIANS. EVEN AT THE COST OF BEING MOCKED (it has happened to me more than once, and I have always kindly prayed for those who did it).

(º) if we do not reveal ourselves in certain cases in which - for example if we go to work in certain countries - to do so we can concretely risk even losing our life, Jesus who sees in secret will understand us if we do not demonstrate it, since we are secular. Perhaps he would forgive us even if we openly deny him, but we never really do this!

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5,1-12a.

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. "
