God is not an accessory.
The car's rear-view camera for reversing is an accessory but God is not optional.
It is nonsense to think of God from time to time and in specific cases.  It 'well known that in a falling plane there are no atheists ... and even during an earthquake.
In those circumstances, everyone is praying. What sense does it addressing to God only then?
After all our life has much in common with a plane will fall and with a shaky destiny. So why should I drugged with false securities?
There is a reason. I would do myself, I would be master of everything that happens to me, but this does not happen.
Drawbacks and difficulties of life bring me a positive message: I am told that I am a creature that needs the creator.
God wanted to take his place among us with Jesus born in the greatest possible difficulty: a birth outside the home, in precarious conditions. The immediately after a flee, and then he did not have to lay his head ... and finally died on the cross. More opposition than this ...

But strangely following him we will be happy. He has opened the way for me to live with humility. Almost certainly i'll not suffer as He did, even my life will be full of joy because redemption means a real, friendly, human relationship with God and with others, with the humor of being able to smile about my limits.
The Divine Providence provides and, after the difficulties, the sun rises. The relationship with God is the most sensible thing I can do.

After death there is the resurrection. God is not an optional for anyone of us
