Position from 1974 to 1976 : maintenance team leader to hot-rolled plate mills.
Description: responsible for the management and improvement of the trends for the operation of mills, I designed and made to install and test a device for continuous lubrication of the couplings that transmit the power of 11,000 kW electric engines to the work-rolls of the rolling mill no. 2, and provided some mechanical modification of the transmission. With these changes, the mill was able to work with higher couples and speeds, lower lubrication time, increasing its productivity by at least 10 %, and finally avoiding changes to the stand, which would have cost more than 4 million U.S. dollars.
Position 1977-1980 : maintenance manager assistant.
Description: leader, for the part of my company, I joined the mission of Nippon Steel Corp. in 1978.
Together with my friend Mr. Muramoto, their mission leader, we found a big origin drawback in the worm screws housing of the finishing stand of plate mill 2.
This defect, if neglected, could result in the crash and shutdown of production for at least one year. On this occasion I did learn the basics of managing the operations of major maintenance and renovation of facilities. |
