The apostles left their father, leaving their boat, they leave all their riches; renounce all they possess. But God does not consider the mass of wealth, but the soul that gives it up. They have left a few things would have also given up, if necessary, to a great fortune. (St. Jerome)

Then how can I be a Jesus follower?  It seems  that this  it is impossible to me, because here only those who leave everything and everyone to their destiny including wife, relatives, sons and friends, can be followers of Jesus.  This is not true.
There are those who have other vocations, i.e. to marriage and children, to scientific studies, to carry out a profession useful to the common good, and can be Jesus' followers, and apostles too.
I can be a follower of Jesus also having home, mate, children, friends and people who work for me. I have to work for them, stay with them and be responsible for them treating everyone with justice and love.
And, last but not least, if all the people are poor, who ever will be able to help the poor? Everyone will be uncomfortable or sadly surviving.
Life usually isn't easy at all, when one performs all duties with accuracy and devotion. It will become a happier life if I do everything at my best, every day and in every situation, an I devote all my actions to God father.
I would have also given up, if necessary, to a great fortune. In this world too.

. After John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God and saying:"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; Repent and believe the gospel. " Passing along the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.Jesus said to them: "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." And immediately they left their nets and followed him.Going a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee their boat, and John his brother, who were mending their nets. he called them. And they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
