Position from 1974 to 1976 : hot-rolled plate mills maintenance team leader
Description: In charge of the improvement and management for mills operation trends, I designed and made to install and test a device for the continuous lubrication of couplings which transmit the power of two 11,000 kW electric engines to the rolling mill no. 2 work-rolls. Also, provided some transmission couplings mechanical modifications. These changes allowed the mill working with higher torque and speed, lowering lubrication time, increasing its productivity by at least 10 %, and finally avoiding some changes to the stand, which should have costed more than 4 million U.S. dollars.
Position 1977-1980 : maintenance manager assistant.
Description: leader, for my company, joined e mission of Nippon Steel Corp. in 1978.
Together wi my friend Mr. Muramoto, their mission leader, we found a big origin drawback in the worm screws housing of plate mill 2 finishing stand .
This defect, if neglected, could result in crash and shutdown of production for at least one year. On this occasion I did learn basics of major maintenance operations and revamping . |
